For Valerie, coming to her yoga mat is coming home. Valerie’s yoga practice provides her safe place to rid herself of distractions, anxieties, judgments, and doubts and return to her natural state of being: a state of peace. After 12 years of practice, and experiencing firsthand the profound effect that yoga can have on one’s mental and emotional well-being, she knew it to be her life’s purpose to share this practice with others. So in 2013, she left her career in clinical research, completed her 200hr Yoga Alliance vinyasa training and began teaching full time.
Her authentic teaching style blends safe alignment with dynamic flow, a dose of humor and plentiful opportunities for self-inquiry. She believes that how we do anything is how we do everything, and encourages her students to identify patterns on and off the mat. Breath and yoga go hand-in-hand, so all of Valerie’s classes incorporate breath work and mindful meditation, bringing her students deeper into the sensations of the present moment. She loves working with students of all-levels, but especially those that are new to the practice. Her favorite part of teaching is being a witness to the shift that occurs with a regular practice and seeing her students’ mentality shift from "I can’t" to "I can".
